Title: Speed Thrasher
What could be more fun than tying a skateboard to a car and speeding up the road skating over cars, rails, trucks etc? Well if this game's anything to go by, not many things! That's what you do in this highly original game. You control the car, and the sketer behind you sways left and right depending on your movements. For maxium points you jump straight over cars, pick up the speed arrows, navigate pothole-ridden roads, glide along rails with the greatest of ease, preferably avoid crashing into cars, find the golden muffler, drink beer (by crashing into the beer vans - but don't drink and drive in real life, folks!), and of course escape the police who aren't amused by your antics. The faster you go, the more points you pick up for doing your stunts. Well, that's the game in a nutshell. The graphics are crisp and clean, portrayed in a 2D overhead view, and such sound effects as there are sound ok. The music is fab though, I sometimes play the game almost to just listen to it! The gameplay itself is of course the key factor, and this is where the game truly excels. You pick up what you're supposed to do in seconds, but it will take you hours to truly master it. Many elements in the game are inherently random, so the game never really gets boring or predictable. The whole game isn't very long, a few minutes if you complete it, but the replay factor is very high indeed. Then again, I fnid it's good to have a few games around that are good for a quick five minutes play in between other things. Be warned though that Speed Thrasher is highly addictive and trying to beat your best score can become quiet an obsession! (If anyone's remotely interested, my high score at the time of writing this is 5,536.)
ProsGreat gameplay and brilliant music, very addictive
ConsIndividual games are short
VerdictA real gem of a game - and a very small download!
