Google AdSenseSome general thoughts / ideas about Google's AdSense program... If you don't seem to be able to get the normal text on your page targeted enough for AdSense to show appropriate links, try adding some keyword-dense text to the page in that page's background colour - it doesn't seem to know the difference. Try different ad formats on different pages - if you use the same one in the same place on every page, your visitors will become blind to it. Get rid of the borders, it's easiily done (set the value "google_color_border" to the same as your background colour). In fact, it's a good idea to completely integrate your site colours into your Google AdSense set-up. You can do this in AdSense itself or change the code by hand using the following method:
The above is in my CSS - following is the GoogleAdSense code:
Another thing you can do is use an alternative URL instead of public service ads. This can be done from the main Google AdSense page (the first one after you log in). Personally I don't do this as I kind of like the idea that occasionally my site will be helping promote a good cause, but it undoubtedly is one of the methods used to increase profits! One final thought - if you have a lot of text on a particular webpage, Google AdSense seems to take most notice of what's nearest the top of the page (or, if you're using multipe AdSense placements on a page - don't forget you can have up to 3, but there's not much point unless you have a lot of text on that page - the text that's nearest to where the AdSense will be displayed).
